Admissions Requirements

Admission Requirements

  • Spring Mountain Christian Academy exists to provide Christian education for children.  The primary basis for admission to the program is a parental commitment to accept their biblical mandate to train their children.  SMCA believes that education is a scriptural mandate, and admission is open to families who agree to support the biblical worldview from which we teach every subject, and uphold the Christian values and school policies outlined in our Handbook.

  • Each student must be in good academic and behavioral standing with the previous school attended. Family interview will be scheduled prior to admission.

  • Minimum Age: K4 children must be four years of age by midnight, August 31st.  K5 children must be five years of age by midnight, August 31st. A child entering first grade must be six years of age by midnight, August 31st.  Contact the school’s registrar for exceptions to this policy.

  • Students applying for Kindergarten admissions will go through the Readiness Screening evaluation administered by our experienced staff. Recommendations for acceptance will be made based on the results of the screening.

-Students in grades 6–12 are required to attest in writing their willingness to attend SMCA and their commitment to abide by all school policies. We believe student cooperation is essential to a successful educational experience; therefore, we do not enroll students in this age group who are unwilling to attend.

- SMCA school does not assess or update IEPs, 504 plans or Service Plans, but aims to customize curriculum assignment and academic standards based on pre-existing plans according to the individual's academic needs. Thus, students with learning differences will be evaluated carefully, with consideration of the type of disability or differences, severity of the disability and the capacity to accommodate that aspect. SMCA administration reserves the right to deny enrollment to students with learning disabilities and/or differences if a SMCA school lacks facilities and/or staff and resources to meet the needs of such students in the fullest possible way.

- SMCA partners with parents in the Christian education of students. We expect families to nurture this partnership by agreeing to the following:

“As a parent, I will support the school with prayer and a positive attitude. Any concerns will be shared directly with the teacher, principal, or person involved in keeping with the Matthew 18 principle.”

  • During the registration period, new families will be scheduled for an interview and student entrance assessment. This meeting provides an opportunity for the school to present its mission, programs, and expectations, while also inviting parents/guardians and the student to share their needs, concerns, and goals. We welcome all questions and encourage open, respectful dialogue. Following the interview, the school registrar will notify families of the admission decision and provide instructions for completing the registration process.

  • SMCA parents are expected to attend Parent Orientation Night (typically in August), read the Parent-Student Handbook, and commit to school events as outlined in the annual calendar.
